Redrockwriting's Blog

December 31, 2009

This is my first attempt at blogging, but I think it will be a good way to meet other children’s authors. I am in the process of self-publishing my first book. More about that later. I live in one of the most beautiful places in the world, a constant inspiration for creative types like me. Beautiful vistas everywhere you look. Moving here has given me more time to concentrate on my writing. Mostly for children, although I have spent many years in marketing communications. I have found other writers here, but my town is home to many artists as well. No surprize. As soon as I can figure out how to do it, I will post some photos of Red Rock Country. You will be amazed! The flora and fauna and people who live in this high desert area influence my writing every day.

  1. Hi, Diane! Welcome to Arizona. I’m a neighbor, over in Prescott. My wife and I have been living here for the past 17 years. She’s the writer, and I’m the graphic designer/illustrator. I hope to see you one of these days, at the SCBWI meetings in our lovely town. Congrats on your book on ravens. I hope I’ll get to see it one of these days.

    Best,

    • Thank you for the warm welcome! Surely I can share my book with you at a SCBWI. I just posed that question (about next meeting date in Prescott) on the listserv. Can I ask how you found my blog? Did WordPress alert you to it?

  2. I am also a member of SCBWI which has become a useful tool for me. I have had one book published called “The Buddy Tails.” by Publish America.

I just wanted comment on your website. You did a nice job describing Sedona and the “Coffepot Rock.” The picture was enticing and your words beckoned one to read on. I am anxious to purchase your book when it is released. Keep me informed.

  3. Hi, I found your blog on the SCBWI page. It did note that you will be at the Prescott meeting. Unfortunately, I won’t be able to attend that one because I am having back surgery in February.
I love Sedona and do look forward to reading your book!

    • Mary Ann, thank you so much for visiting my blog. I wish I had more time to work it, but will try to post several times a week. I’m sorry I won’t see you at Prescott meeting (hope the back surgery goes well). My book is in print, and I will be blogging it soon, want to post the cover which is so inviting. The tale is inspired by a true story, and the raven is so heart-warming that I think you will like it. I will search out your book as well. Hope tp meet soon.

    • Barb, glad you could visit. I’ll be posting some information about ravens soon. Meanwhile, check out the Javelinas that visited the house recently. What do you think?

  5. Hi Diane, I LOVE your children’s book. You may not remember me. we met several years ago at a small town library where you were the librarian and you hired me! This would have been perfect for our children’s story hour. Maybe a special appearance there is in order….

Got your article – it’s wonderful! Talk to you soon.
